Emotional Freedom Technique

The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as tapping or psychological acupressure, is an alternative method for addressing physical pain and emotional distress. Developed by Gary Craig, EFT is a technique involving tapping with the fingertips on specific meridian points to restore balance and release blockages in the body’s energy flow.

Title Icon When do you need EFT?

EFT tapping is used to seek relief from everyday stress and anxiety, improve performance or reduce food cravings. Additionally, EFT tapping is valuable in clinical settings, where licensed practitioners use it to treat patients dealing with PTSD, trauma, phobias and various other mental health issues.

Title Icon What to expect from the technique?

Standard EFT tapping targets nine acupoints on the face, hands and body, such as the Eyebrow, Side of the Eye, Under the Eye and Top of the Head. It combines tapping with mental focus on troubling feelings or situations. In clinical settings, practitioners guide patients to tap while discussing traumatic memories, calming the brain’s stress response and enabling retention of details without emotional distress over time.

What to expect from an EFT Practitioner?

For trauma or PTSD, working with a certified EFT practitioner involves recalling traumatic events. Tapping specific acupoints helps calm the body’s response to the memory. Typically, 10 sessions are recommended for PTSD, with in-person sessions showing the most effectiveness.
