Title Icon Kundalini Yoga

The term “Kundalini” comes from the Sanskrit word “kundal,” meaning “circular,” and also refers to a coiled snake. This energy, like the coiled snake, lies dormant until activated. Kundalini yoga, often referred to as “the yoga of awareness,” focuses on awakening this energy and channelling it through the chakras to enhance spiritual, mental and emotional well-being.

Key Components of Kundalini Yoga
  • Opening Chant: Classes begin with chanting.
  • Pranayama/Warm-Up: Breathing exercises and movements to prepare the body and practice breath control.
  • Kriya: A sequence of postures, breaths, hand positions, sounds and meditations, which vary in length and intensity.
  • Relaxation: A period to absorb the effects of the kriya and relax the body and mind.
  • Meditation: Guided meditation to cultivate awareness and connect with the inner self.
  • Closing Chant: Classes end with chanting.
